We are looking for a temporary, part-time Consultant for Community Outreach and Engagement to successfully execute our clients’ public health campaigns and plans. In this role, you should be an excellent communicator and effective leader who can support and implement activities in the delivery of our statewide mental health project, including general support of project implementation and reporting, production of content, and collaboration with the project team. Experience working on public health initiatives, as well as a background in community outreach, engagement, and social marketing are highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
Collaborating with Project Leads and project sponsors who are the primary decision-makers, gaining complete understanding of specific goals, objectives, and audiences of the project.
Collaborating and communicating with Project Leads, project sponsors, project team members, partners, and clients as needed and regularly to ensure project goals, quality standards, and desired outcomes are met.
Support The Social Changery’s vision, mission, and aim to provide high quality services to clients and stakeholders.
Regular Duties:
Working with the Changery team and individual project teams in the delivery of projects.
As a project team member, providing expertise and performing tasks as needed and as related to areas of expertise and experience.
Initiating and completing internal and external communications assuring success of projects/activities.
Event planning, presenting and/or tabling at conferences and events.
Creating and delivering written and verbal reports, including analysis, and evaluations.
Collaborating with clients, vendors, team members, and partner organizations to achieve the goals and objectives of projects/activities.
Performing project-based administrative functions, including maintaining electronic files, record keeping, proofreading, managing calendars and scheduling appointments/meetings, making travel arrangements, and responding to emails, phone calls and inquiries.
Modeling professionalism at all times.
Coordinating and implementing project deliverables and timelines, as assigned and in collaboration with project teams.
Assisting with facilitation of client and stakeholder meetings, including documenting, note taking, report preparation, and database management.
Providing reports to the Project Lead and/or sponsors, including analysis reports and evaluations.
Collaborating with Project Leads, partners, vendor organizations, and individuals as appropriate and necessary for implementation and delivery of project tasks and deliverables.
Performing special projects, deliverables and other duties as assigned.
Community Outreach and Engagement Dutie
Coordinating and implementing community outreach and engagement project deliverables and timelines, including community/nonprofit/school outreach, technical assistance, and networking, in collaboration with project teams.
Presenting and/or tabling at conferences and events.
Conducting community outreach to educate and engage a variety of project stakeholders and build strategic partnerships.
Evaluating engagement and outreach needs of a multi-faceted community and customize project strategies, deliverables and activities, and efforts to fit community needs.
Providing reports to the Project Lead and/or sponsors, including analysis reports and evaluation.
Collaborating with partner organizations, especially with K-12 and higher education schools and community-based organizations to promote the objectives of projects.
Representing The Social Changery and its projects at meetings with community partners/stakeholders.
Coordinating and implementing community education presentations and community forums.
Coordinating and presenting mental health stigma and discrimination reduction; and suicide prevention education curricula in schools, nonprofits, and other community settings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social science or other relevant field, or five years of relevant professional experience.
3-5 years experience as a Consultant, Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist, or equivalent position.
Two or more years of issue-based community outreach/engagement/organizing experience, including one-on-one organizing, coalition building, meeting/group facilitation, and delivery of skills- and/or issue-based training (volunteer work considered).
Familiarity with communications for marketing, community organizing, education, advocacy, public health, social justice and/or policy campaigns.
Experience in collaborating with staff teams and vendors.
Experience in outreach and education of diverse cultural/ethnic communities of California.
Ability to think strategically at every process level, while keeping the big picture in mind.
Exceptional organizational skills, including time and task management.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, MailChimp, video and audio conferencing, databases and social media platforms.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and work independently while managing multiple projects, activities, and deadlines.
Shows initiative, determination, and follow-through on all tasks and projects.
Strong leadership, communication, logic, innovation, and collaboration skills.

Position Summary:
Part-time, 10-20 hours per week, hourly position.
Temporary position, estimated March-June 2020 and dependent on funds available.
Based in co-working office in Sacramento or Alameda, with flexibility to work remotely as workload allows.
Transportation needed for meetings and events.
Travel to meetings and events may be required.
Primarily standard business hours (e.g. M-F, 9am-5:30pm), with option for negotiated flexible hours as workload allows. Some evenings and weekends may be required for special events or conferences.
