Position: Creative Services Lead


Summary: The Creative Services Lead position is a newly created role on our team that will be responsible for developing and executing a creative strategy across all The Social Changery’s clients and projects. This role will create and implement compelling design strategies that elevate our unique visual identities, social marketing, and strategic communications projects/campaigns that drive awareness for—and ensure—all people, regardless of circumstance or background, have equitable opportunities for education, health and economic success.


The Ideal Candidate for the Creative Services Lead position brings exceptional design, production, and communications skills to their work, preferably with an interest in public health initiatives (especially mental health and substance use prevention and early intervention) and behavioral change communications. The Creative Service Lead is energetic and self-reliant, they understand the importance of details, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. A successful Creative Services Lead is proactive, demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and is eager to collaborate. They are a life-long learner, with a demonstrated interest and deep commitment to social justice and equity.


What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the creative process by translating communication and marketing strategy into clear creative designs; setting the creative direction in alignment with visual and quality standards.

  • Conceive creative ideas and execute concepts and design elements for a wide range of outlets including, but not limited to, presentations, social media content, web, print and digital formats.

  • Conceptualize and art direct photo and video/TikTok shoots and development to ensure a consistent visual identity across projects.

  • Cultivate a sense of trust, care, well-being, inclusiveness, and belonging in the communities we serve through design and content development.

  • Collaborate with clients, vendors, team members, and partner organizations as appropriate to achieve the creative goals and objectives of projects/activities.

  • Present your work expertly to broad and varied audiences of stakeholders, from clients to community and youth partners.

  • Contribute to the reviewing and editing of content to ensure that visual standards are being met.

  • Work closely with the team to develop and implement a visual strategy for clients that elevates their brand identity and supports their overall mission.


What You Need to Succeed:

  • Creative. You are an out-of-the-box thinker who approaches every project with a passion for storytelling, design, layout, and typography. You have excellent skills with design software, including, but not limited to, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe XD and Canva.

  • Passionate. You care about and have experience working with diverse communities and creating content with specific target audiences in mind, for example for youth and young adults. You ensure individuals feel represented and have the most inclusive, thoughtful, and meaningful experience possible.

  • Exemplary Leader. You inspire people by developing trusting relationships with the team and clients. You foster a safe, creative, and collaborative team environment.

  • Communicator. You have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop relationships and communicate with all levels of the team and with outside groups. You have strong written, oral, and presentation skills.

  • Design Eye. You can look at a design and identify why it works (or doesn’t). You know how to implement design with a cultural competence lens, based on community evaluation, data, and research.

  • Trend Setter. You have an awareness of creative trends, ability to incorporate new techniques and inform others. You follow social media trends and enjoy creating social media content.

  • Strategic Thinker. You generate innovative ideas using data and insights to drive long-term success.

  • Experienced. You have a Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, or other relevant field OR three years of relevant professional experience in similar fields.


Work Environment:

  • Flexible place of work (including full-remote option), full-time 40 hours per week, salaried, exempt position.

  • Some travel to meetings and events throughout California required (as public health guidelines allow).

  • Standard business hours (e.g. M-F, 9am-5:30pm), with option for negotiated flexible hours as workload allows. Some evenings and weekends are required for special events.

  • Ability to work at a laptop workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time.

  • Ability to speak on the telephone for 2 hours at a time.

  • Ability to participate for up to 4 hours without breaks at events and meetings.

Salary: $55,000-$65,000. Salary range is based on market rates for Sacramento, CA. The Social Changery offers a cost of living adjustment to this salary for employees’ local geographic area/city outside of Sacramento, CA.


COVID Vaccination Policy: In order to safeguard its employees, clients, and communities, The Social Changery has implemented a COVID-19 vaccination policy for its employees, in compliance with, and subject to exceptions required by federal, state, and local law. The Social Changery requires all employees to obtain a COVID-19 vaccine or a Changery approved medical or religious exemption, and to provide documentation proof of their vaccine to the Changery. New hires must be fully vaccinated or obtain a medical or religious exemption as of their first day of work.
