Seeking Senior Project Lead (Position Filled)

The Social Changery is looking for a Senior Project Lead with a passion for working with diverse populations and stakeholders to successfully execute our clients’ public health marketing campaigns and plans. This role successfully executes projects, works with project team(s), and provides leadership and task coordination. The Senior Project Lead is directly responsible for deliverables and work products produced by multiple internal and external teams. The Senior Project Lead is an excellent communicator and effective leader who supervises multiple programs, teams, and team members. They participate as a team leader and team member as needed and work effectively with minimal direction and supervision.


Ideal Candidate for the Senior Project Lead position brings exceptional technical, organizational, communications and project management skills to their work. They should be an excellent communicator and effective leader who can supervise multiple programs and team members including both our internal team and external vendors. The ideal candidate is an energetic, self-directed problem-solver who understands the importance of details, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. Experience working on public health initiatives (especially mental health and substance use prevention and early intervention), as well as a background in account management, marketing and media are highly desirable. 


A successful Senior Project Lead is proactive, demonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit, eagerness to collaborate, and thinks critically and strategically while reflecting client/project objectives. They are a life-long learner, have a demonstrated track-record of working effectively with diverse communities, and have a deep commitment to social justice and equity.


Role Responsibilities:

Project Management 

  • Leading and coordinating simple-to-complex, small-to-large projects.

  • Providing project management, risk/change management, coordination, timeline management, recommendations, and strategic insight to projects.

  • Facilitating a collaborative process to develop, coordinate, implement and maintain project methodology, processes and procedures, multiple projects/activities’ deliverables, work plans and timelines.

  • Monitoring, documenting, and controlling project scope creep.


Administration and Oversight

  • Overseeing planning, organizing, executing, monitoring and controlling multiple projects.

  • Ensuring projects’ activities adhere to contract requirements/commitments.  

  • Developing, maintaining and controlling project plans and schedules.

  • Developing, maintaining and controlling project budgets in conjunction with project sponsor(s) and operations leadership, including expense projecting, ensuring project team members’ expenditures aligns with resource allocations, proactively identifying budget issues to project sponsor(s), and coordinating vendor/other fees and expenses.

  • Leading the facilitation and coordination of schedules and activities among the project team members/organizations to ensure projects/activities are completed within timelines.  

  • Creating and delivering written and verbal reports, including analysis and evaluations.

  • Performing project-based administrative and organizational functions as needed, including maintaining work team’s electronic files, record keeping, proofreading, managing calendars and scheduling appointments/meetings, making travel arrangements, and responding to emails, phone calls and inquiries.


People Leadership and Collaboration

  • Developing, maintaining and managing client relationships, including expectations, alignment of goals and objectives, managing stakeholders, and providing strategic guidance and insight as appropriate to successfully implement project goals and deliverables.

  • Planning, organizing and facilitating meetings including taking minutes and capturing key decisions and action items for meeting attendees, as appropriate.

  • Event planning, presenting and/or tabling at conferences and events. 

  • Addressing problems through risk management and contingency planning and presenting solutions/options to operations leadership.  

  • Identifying, documenting, resolving, and/or escalating emerging issues to appropriate sponsors and leadership.

  • Collaborating with clients, vendors, team members, and partner organizations as appropriate to achieve goals and objectives of projects/activities.

  • As a team member, providing expertise, performing tasks, filling in gaps, identifying expertise, and planning to accomplish all tasks.


Communications and Curriculum Development

  • Developing and creating written content for curriculum, manuals, presentations, reports, websites, newsletters, etc.

  • Initiating and completing necessary internal and external communications to assure success of all projects/activities.


Qualifications:

Education and Prior Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, marketing, social science or community development field, or five years of relevant professional experience in similar field.

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Project Manager, Campaign Manager, Account/Project Supervisor or equivalent position.

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects and project teams including supervision of internal staff and external vendors. 

  • Experience working with the nonprofit and public heath sector in the SF Bay Area preferred. Experience and established networks in the historically underserved communities of the SF Bay Area highly desirable.


Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated passion for and commitment to working with communities of color, youth, LGBTQA+, socio-economically oppressed, underserved and underrepresented people.

  • Ability to build rapport and trust with above communities and individuals.

  • Ability to speak to audiences and communities from their perspective and translate to other parties and vendors.

  • Knowledge of public health principles, especially mental health and substance use prevention.

  • Inclination toward Situational Leadership and Collaborative Leadership approaches.

  • Ability to influence and motivate across diverse coalitions of people with differing motivations and worldviews.

  • Ability to think strategically at the process level, while keeping the big picture in mind.

  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, MailChimp, video and audio conferencing, databases and social media platforms.

  • Ability to perform financial management including budgeting and reporting.

  • Ability to prepare and maintain clear, accurate, and concise records and reports.

  • Exceptional organizational skills, including team, time and task management.

  • Shows initiative, determination, and follow-through on all tasks and projects.

  • Highly skilled in effective speaking, reading, and writing in English. Proficiency in Spanish or other threshold languages of California is highly desirable.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Positively, professionally, and warmly manage client relationships, including leadership abilities to set and manage client expectations.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.


Work Environment

  • Ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously on a team, as well as work independently and self-manage towards goals including communicating transparently across the organization.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and willing to cope and work well with occasional uncertainty and change.

  • Willingness to travel, if required.

  • Ability to travel to/attend meetings in the Bay Area (when public health guidelines allow)


Position Summary:

  • Full-time 40 hours per week, salaried, exempt position.

  • 100% remote work position during shelter-in-place order. When conditions allow, position is based in a co-working office in Sacramento or Alameda, with flexibility to work remotely as workload allows. 

  • Some travel to meetings and events required (when public health guidelines allow).

  • Primarily standard business hours (e.g. M-F, 9am-5:30pm), with option for negotiated flexible hours as workload allows. Some evenings and weekends required for special events.

  • Ability to work at a laptop workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Salary range is based on market rates for Sacramento, CA. The Social Changery offers a cost of living adjustment to this range for employees’ local geographic area/city outside of Sacramento, CA.
